SmithITS / Smith IT Services is operated by Nicholas Smith. For privacy questions or requests, email contact@smithits.com. Current business contact details are on our Contact page.
Information you provide
Contact forms, quote requests, support tickets, and PC-support inquiries collect the details you submit, such as your name, email, telephone number, business details, message, and any attachment you choose to provide. We store submissions for follow-up and may send them to the appropriate business mailbox. Do not submit passwords, payment card details, or confidential files through these forms.
Quote-form attachments currently use ordinary website upload storage and can have directly accessible file URLs. Do not use that feature to send confidential material; contact us to arrange a suitable way to share it.
Accounts, purchases, and software licenses
Your account contains your email, username, securely hashed password, billing details, orders, and download permissions. Licensing records include the licensed product, license status, activation limit, hashed device identifier, and activation or validation timestamps. The licensing service also supports a computer label where one is supplied.
SmithITS Renamer performs renaming locally. Its activation and validation requests send the product and major-version identifiers, hashed device identifier, and license key or activation token needed to manage access. Selected file contents are not uploaded by the renaming or activation process. Rename history stays on the PC unless you choose to share information with support.
The browser Renamer demo uses supplied virtual samples and tab-local history. It does not request access to your files or upload them. Reset, changing sample folders, or reloading clears that demo history.
Payments and email
PayPal processes PayPal payments under its own privacy statement. We receive the transaction identifiers, payment status, and contact or billing information supplied for the order. Do not send payment card details through our forms or support email.
We use Hostinger for hosting and business email. Depending on the configured sender, operational email may also be processed through Microsoft Outlook. These providers process information needed to host the site, transmit or store email, and maintain their services. Website delivery logs can contain message recipients, subjects, content, and delivery status; their configured retention is described below.
Comments, fonts, and AI features
If you leave a website comment, WordPress collects the submitted comment information and connection details used for moderation and spam prevention. If avatars are displayed, an email-derived hash may be sent to the Gravatar service to request an avatar.
Pages request fonts from Google Fonts, which can receive your IP address and browser request information. If you choose to use an AI feature such as the support chat, your message, submitted content, and recent conversation context can be sent to Anthropic to generate a response. Do not enter passwords, payment details, or private account information into chat.
Cookies, sessions, and security logs
WordPress and WooCommerce use cookies and session information for login, account security, shopping carts, and checkout. Comment features can offer cookies to remember submitted details. PayPal may use its own cookies when its tools load or you pay. Blocking these cookies can prevent account or checkout features from working.
Hosting and security systems may record IP addresses, request times, browser information, and errors to operate the site, diagnose problems, and investigate misuse.
Use and sharing
We use information to respond to requests, provide services and support, fulfill orders, deliver account emails and downloads, manage licenses, protect the site, and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations. Information is shared with providers as needed for those purposes or when required by law. We do not sell customer information or use contact submissions to enroll you in a marketing list.
Retention and your choices
Customer accounts and completed order records do not currently have fixed automatic deletion periods. We retain records as needed for ongoing licenses and support, disputes, fraud prevention, and applicable obligations. The website email-delivery log is configured for 14-day retention; mailbox copies, hosting logs, and backups have separate retention and can remain longer. Scheduled cleanup depends on the site’s scheduled tasks operating.
Contact us to request access, correction, export, or deletion of your personal information. We may need to verify your identity and retain records needed for legitimate operational or legal reasons. Account deletion can affect access to purchases and licenses; we will explain that effect before acting.
Backups may retain earlier records until replaced or deleted. Relevant approved deletion requests must be reapplied if a backup is restored. No system can guarantee absolute security.
